Christopher Straub Fall 2010 Collection

Chinstrap on the runway!

Project Runway Season 6 designer Christopher Straub showed the world his latest collection and scary former supermodel Janice Dickinson introduced it. Christopher? You have the floor:

"My inspirations came from all thing in the sky like birds, clouds, skyscrapers, and parachutes. Also, during rehearsal a spotlight fell on my head and I got some cuts on my head, face, and arm so that would explain the bandage on my forehead."

Alrighty then! When he sent us these pictures he told us he was ready for anything we had to say, so strap yourself in, Chinstrap. You're about to take a ride on the T Lo Bitch Express.

Actually, we like quite a bit of this collection, but what we don't like, we kind of hate. Christopher still puts too much foofaraw on his dresses and the result can be a little clumsy and unflattering, not to mention over-worked. The simpler the silhouette, the more we like the piece. The dresses with the cleanest lines are the best looking and most salable pieces. He also has a tendency to go straight for the shiny fabric and we wish he would restrain himself because it really doesn't work on a lot of the pieces. Surprisingly (although in retrospect it makes sense), he makes really cute and stylish boy clothes with an urban flair. We wish there were more menswear looks in the collection. He could have afforded to skip some of the more repetitive dresses and inserted a couple more boys on the runway. We also would advise that he work on his color sense because we're not particularly loving the drab hues here. They're not dramatic enough for a runway show and they're not on trend enough to interest buyers.
