Balenciaga Resort 2011

Cheer up, Sunshine.

Vogue gushes a bit:

"20 or so exits into Balenciaga’s resort presentation, Ghesquière introduced the next few looks by laughing and saying, “These are what we’re calling ‘country tech.’ ” He was talking about the layers of tanks, short full skirts, slouchy, almost sporty pants, and charming little vests edged in silks embroidered in netting or scrolled with naïve floral motifs. And in that simple description, Ghesquière revealed just how good a designer he is, because, yes, now that you mention it, Nicolas, there are elements of futuristic chic and a certain rural pastoral charm—but it was never obvious, or contrived, or try-hard. Just an ability to elevate even the most user-friendly wear-anytime clothes, the kind of clothes that are the whole point of resort."

Enh. We're not feeling it as much as Vogue is. There are some cute pieces, and it's nice to see some color in a resort collection, but most of this looks overthought and overdone to us. And we're sorry, but those tiny skirts with the pointy hems are downright ugly.

So it's T LO vs. VOGUE, bitches! What side of this extremely important argument do you come down on?
